                                                               We’ve all heard of empathy, caring with someone in a way that helps you understand and care for them.  But, IMpathy ™, what’s that? IMpathy ™ is caring for yourself with the same care, kindness, and compassion that you direct towards others. Self-care, self-kindness, self-compassion are practices that help you become more resilient.

 

Phyllis conceived the word “IMpathy ™ after working with thousands of families and caregivers during her 45-year career as a speech/language pathologist. She’s conducted trainings to teach these techniques for both the public and private sector, and through a collaboration with a national insurance provider. offered a webinar that was distributed across the country to nursing home healthcare workers during COVID19.

 

She conceived and hosts the podcast SeniorsSTRAIGHTTalk on the Voice America Empowerment Channel, is a proud board member of the Massachusetts Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (MANHR) and an advisory board member to Olive Community Services, a 501(c) 3 in Fullerton, CA. She’s author of two books in publication, a third to be released in the early Fall, and several articles in national online senior trade publications. She’s been interviewed on various podcasts and blogcasts.
